PennWell MAPSearch is an energy information provider to the oil, gas, electric and related industries. Information is provided as GIS (Geographical Information Systems) data, or in wall map, state map, or atlas format.

PennWell MAPSearch provides the most accurate, timely and complete GIS data available for North American petroleum pipelines and electric power infrastructure. Our databases encompass natural gas, crude oil, refined product, LPG/NGL, petrochemical pipelines and their facilities.

Our data and maps are used by petroleum pipeline companies, exploration and production companies, energy marketing companies, financial investment firms, consulting companies that serve the energy industry, governmental agencies, and other related organizations every day.

PennWell MAPSearch provides current, quality, and comprehensive pipeline system and electric power information.

The oil and gas database encompasses pipeline logistical information, including diameter, owner/operator, direction of flow, storage terminals, gas processing facilities, refineries, truck loading/unloading, compressor/pump stations, marketing hubs and other facilities related to crude oil, LPG/NGL, natural gas, refined products, petrochemicals/olefins, and other petroleum related commodities transported by pipeline.

The electric database includes transmission lines, plants (power plants & hydros), MUNI (Municipalities), REA (Rural Electric Areas), IOU (Investor Owned Utilities), NERC (NERC regions), substations, and non-utilities.

HISTORY

MAPSearch Services was established in 1979. The company originally tracked only finished petroleum products, such as LPG/NGL, refined product pipeline systems and petrochemicals, but produced custom mapping coverage for crude oil and natural gas pipelines.

During the 1980's our products expanded to include United States and regional Atlases and Logistics References. In 1989, the company began to include natural gas and crude oil coverage as standard offerings and to computerize the mapping operations of the company.

In 1998 MAPSearch Services became a part of the PennWell organization and our name was changed to PennWell MAPSearch. Again our services expanded to include offshore and electric power GIS information.

Today PennWell MAPSearch is a well-known, highly reputable provider of petroleum pipeline system data and electric generation, transmission and service territory data.
