ENERGY TRANSFER’S ACQUISITION OF WILLIAMS TO HAVE MAJOR IMPACT ON MAPSEARCH DATA
Earlier this week, it was announced that Energy Transfer Equity, LP would acquire The Williams Companies, Inc. for approximately $37.7 bn. This is a major transaction, which will create the second-largest midstream company in the US. Although the sale is not expected to close until sometime in the first-half of 2016, the MAPSearch research staff has already begun identifying Williams Company assets that will require attribute updates.
Based on a preliminary analysis of the Williams owned assets within the MAPSearch petroleum and natural gas datasets, we anticipate changes to the following:
- 678 facilities (pump/compressor stations, etc.)
- 45+ pipeline systems
- 23,500+ miles of pipeline
Announcements of this magnitude create some of the largest projects our research and GIS operations team have to tackle. Fortunately, they’ve been through this exercise before and will take the necessary steps to ensure that these updates are delivered with the professionalism and attention to detail that our clients have come to expect. Stay-tuned, as we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one!
